Sorry I haven’t wrote here for so long! I’ve been busy getting ready for my first two craft fairs and when I wasn’t doing that I was trying to rest/recover from my first fair. Very tiring but well worth it!
My first one was just down the road from where I live which was very useful. I got there nice and early and got my stall up in record time compared to others in the hall. I only sold four cards, but it was more then I expected and it was my first go! No one knew of me and after time people will remember me and come to these places hoping I’m there to buy my cards.
I made some great fellow craft friends who were selling things that day, got talking to a few of them who were all very friendly. Offered me advice, tips and that. Some took my business card, one lady took a few to leave out after her craft lessons for her students! Another took one with my number to contact me about another craft fair that was coming up. The lady who does the event asked if I wanted to do another two fairs before the end of the year, which I agreed to. I thought she was fully booked but apparently not. Also, someone from the local high school came round with a invite to us craft people to have a stall at their summer fair that is happening next month! So am doing that too!
I was there for -counts- around five and a half hours, long time for myself with my how my health is. I did get tired during that time and had to have food/snacks to keep me going. But I managed to stay there for the whole thing. I had a rest upon returning home and the day did catch up with me in the week a little but I was fully rested and ready to do my second one, this weekend just gone.
It was a car boot sale across with a craft fair at my local church, a little further away but still easy enough to get to so the journey was not long. It was raining that day and I had no idea how to get a table inside, so it looked like I might have to go home as the rain that was just slightly spitting got heavier! While I was there I thought I would check inside for the future on how to get a table inside. It was my lucky day, as someone had cancelled a table and they had room for me! So I set up inside and made more money then my first fair, selling four cards and a notebook.
Made more friends there and the person in charge took down my details to contact me about next years events. The person next to me told me about a Christmas fair coming up and how to contact the person in charge of that. (Who I have already phoned and left a message for her to get back to me), she also gave me a useful site for where craft fairs are in the local area. One of the people there was someone I had met during my first craft fair as well. So all in all, it’s going well so far. (website is stall finder)
I had to have a rest after my second craft fair and tried not to do much yesterday (the day after). My next fair is on the third of September, the same place as my first craft fair. So I have time to make more cards of the ones I sold and any people looked for but I didn’t have enough or any of. Only just started to make notebooks and only have five! (One I made today to replace the one I sold) so will be making more of those as I think they will be popular at the school fair next month. Have also started to make a few Christmas cards.
Health Note
My health is up and down a lot, obviously it’s using quiet a bit of energy to make some of my crafts (mostly the notebooks as it takes a little strength to use the machine I have) and of course moving my things for my stall and the event itself. But I’m really enjoying myself and hope to make a little money from it as I continue.
